The primary goal of St John Bosco’s sports program in the Archdiocesan Interscholastic Athletic League (AIAL) is to represent Christ by exhibiting good sportsmanship through participation in and learning the basic fundamentals of our sports program, always keeping in mind that winning is not everything. Good sportsmanship is viewed by a commitment to Christian values of fair play, ethical/moral behavior, and integrity. In perception and practice, sportsmanship is defined as those Christian qualities which are characterized by generosity and genuine concern for others. Individuals, regardless of their role in activities, are expected to be aware of their influence on the behavior of others and model good sportsmanship.Another goal is to provide opportunities for our students to participate in extra-curricular activities. Students in grades of 6th – 8th are allowed to participate under the AIAL. This league consists of other catholic schools throughout the San Antonio area, to include Seguin, New Braunfels, and Fredricksburg, TX. We offer Volleyball, Football (contact), Cross-country, Basketball, Softball, Baseball, Track and Field, and Golf.St John Bosco students/athletes will pass their classes in order to participate in our athletic program. Any student/athlete who fails one subject or receives an I or U in conduct during progress reporting period or regular report card is automatically place in a Probation Status. Students/athletes must receive a passing grade and a minimum of a S in conduct by the following grading period in order to continue to participate in athletics.Football originated at St John Bosco in the Fall of 2003, only 6th – 8th grade may participate. Most games are played on Friday nights which provides a high school atmosphere with lots of excitement. Our Salesian Sisters, parents with or without sons playing, cheerleaders, dance team, and pep squad all attend the games.
