... we are dedicated to educate youth academically and spiritually in the Catholic, Salesian tradition of Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness”
-Mission Statement
CYO
The primary goal of St John Bosco’s Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) sports program in the Northwest Catholic Athletic Association (Zone 5) is to represent Christ by exhibiting good sportsmanship through participation in and learning the basic fundamentals of our sports program, always keeping in mind that winning is not everything. Good sportsmanship is viewed by a commitment to Christian values of fair play, ethical/moral behavior, and integrity. In perception and practice, sportsmanship is defined as those Christian qualities which are characterized by generosity and genuine concern for others. Individuals, regardless of their role in activities, are expected to be aware of their influence on the behavior of others and model good sportsmanship.
Another goal is to provide opportunities for our students to participate in extra-curricular activities. Students in grades 3K – 5th are allowed to participate in our CYO program. Zone 5 consists of other parishes in the surrounding area. Since we are a catholic school without a parish, only students that attend St John Bosco are allowed to play for our CYO teams. We offer Soccer (Co-ed), Basketball, Track, T-Ball, Softball, Baseball, and Volleyball.
Our CYO program was originated in the School Year of 2003. Soccer games are held at the Zone’s complex located at the intersection of Woodlawn and St. Cloud, right next to the Archdiocese of San Antonio. Basketball games are held throughout the area to include our school’s gym. Also, Tee-Ball, Softball, and Baseball are held at our zone’s complex, other parishes, and as well as our field. There are two track meets; a Zone which is held at a local high school in the surrounding area, and a City meet (held at Central Catholic High School).
